This year the St. Louis region and the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri remembers the 10th anniversary of the killing of Michael Brown and the Ferguson Uprisings.

Ten years ago, civil unrest erupted in the city of Ferguson after a police officer shot and killed 18-year old Michael Brown. The incident ignited a national conversation on race, policing, and the persistence of structural racism in our society.

A decade later, we are called to reflect on our progress together and remember how Ferguson challenged us to build a more just society for all.

The Episcopal Diocese of Missouri and the Commission for Dismantling Racism encourages all members of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri during the week of August 5-9 to join the nation in remembering this significant moment in history and to pray for the work of racial reconciliation and healing in our region and in our nation.

We invite individuals and parishes to attend the following memorial events during the week of the 10th Anniversary of the Ferguson Uprisings:

Memorial Vigil
August 5-9
8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The Episcopal Church of St. Stephen's and the Vine, Ferguson

St. Stephen's and the Vine will be holding a vigil for four hours each day during the week of remembrance. The sanctuary will be filled with candles and art installations inspired by the Ferguson Uprisings. We invite all to come and pray for the city of Ferguson and for racial healing in the nation.

The Dismantling Racism Commission of the Diocese of Missouri invites you to St. Stephen's and the Vine Episcopal Church for a service of prayers and music.


Chosen Fathers Panel

Fathers who have lost children to police violence share their experience and how their loss shaped national movements for social change.
