Episcopal City Mission (ECM) is a ministry providing hope and healing to youth in detention centers in St. Louis City and County. Chaplains offer ecumenical spiritual programs, guidance and support, and a ministry of presence to youth in the juvenile justice system.

Bishop Deon Johnson serves as the President of Board of this non-profit organization. ECM's executive director is Nathan Ivy. Several diocesan clergy and lay members serve in different positions within this ministry. Parishes and individuals from throughout our diocese lend their support by volunteering their time at special events, providing special parties and holiday gifts, and contributing financially.

At ECM, we believe…

We believe that all children
deserve a second chance

We believe in the healing
promise of God’s presence

We believe in providing a safe
environment, free from judgment

We believe children
aren’t disposable and are
worth our time and attention

We believe the children
we serve are more than the
worst thing they have done

We believe being there,
providing a ministry of
presence, is healing

We believe the calming
presence of our chaplains
reassures the children
that someone cares about
their spiritual well-being
