There were many "holy moments" at the 81st General Convention today. Here are a few examples:

  • We recognized the 50th anniversary of the Philadelphia Eleven, the brave women who took on the church's institution to allow women's ordination. (Read the story from ENS.)
  • Bishop's United Against Gun Violence and the Official Youth Presence at GC81 led a march in downtown Louisville to call for action to end the public health crisis of gun violence. (Read the story from ENS.)
  • We recognized the role of the Episcopal Church in the irreparable harm suffered by Indigenous children who attended boarding and residential schools in the 1800s and 1900s, acknowledged the effect of that harm carries on in boarding school survivors and their descendants, and approved a prayer to remember the innocents.   • The House of Deputies repudiated pro-slavery views of a 19th century house president. (Read the story from ENS.)
