The Rev. Dr. Teresa Danieley is being honored for her contributions to racial and economic justice, labor, and human rights in the St. Louis metro communities.

Danieley is one of three people to be honored by the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists at their 44th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Rights Awards Banquet on January 15, 2024. Other recipients of this year's award are Earline Jones, founding member of CWA Local 6300, and John May, founding member of the St. Louis chapter of UAW Local 110.

The banquet is held in the spirit of labor and community solidarity to honor Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday and legacy.

Danieley has worked with Missouri Jobs with Justice since 2005, first as a volunteer and then as a full-time employee beginning in 2017. She also serves as a Priest Associate at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in St. Louis and as the Public Advocacy Missioner for the Diocese of Missouri.

"In both my paid role as Champions Organizer with Missouri Jobs with Justice and in my appointed role as Missioner for Public Advocacy in the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri, I use preaching, teaching, organizing and advocating for tangible policies that improve the lives of Missourians to proclaim the Good News of the Reign of God in a way that most Christians in Missouri may not have heard it proclaimed before," Danieley explained.

Danieley says she is deeply humbled by the award and that she greatly admires the advocacy and service the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists of St. Louis does.

"I feel unworthy to receive an award with Dr. King's name and legacy attached to it," Danieley said. " It challenges me to dedicate my life and my ministry to striving for justice and peace, that all human beings might have the dignity and material things necessary to thrive in this life, even as we look to the life to come."

Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Teresa!
