Clergy and lay members from the Diocese of Missouri are invited to join fellow Episcopalians from Bethlehem, PA, for a two-week Spanish immersion opportunity in Mexico in the fall of 2024.
This invitation comes from the Very Rev. Jon Stratton, Dean of Nativity Cathedral in Bethlehem, PA, and former rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in St. Louis. He and members from his congregation will be engaging in a language school in the Anglican Diocese of Cuernavaca in Mexico. The trip will take place August 31 through September 14, 2024.
The total cost (see attachment) is $2,200 per student. This $2,200 includes transportation to and from the airport in Mexico City, the classes with no more than four students per class, lodging and meals, and transportation to and from the cultural activities. This does not include meals at restaurants or entrance into museums. Students would also need to purchase airline tickets to Mexico City which usually are about $600 to $700 per person. So the total estimated cost per person would be $2,800 to $2,900 for the two weeks. Students might spend an additional $100 to $300 in spending money on restaurants and souvenirs, although this would be at your discretion.
You can download a schedule that the school has used for previous programs. This gives you an idea of what the two weeks are like. As you can see, every day, Monday through Friday, is intensive Spanish class from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., then lunch, and then an afternoon activity or time for resting.
If you would like to talk further about this, please contact the Very Rev. Jon Stratton.
