Churches throughout the Diocese of Missouri are transforming our communities by tending gardens throughout the summer.
Most of our garden ministries are growing vegetables and donating the healthy produce to local food pantries. Others have pollinator gardens, attracting bees and butterflies to help maintain our ecosystem. And still others have gardens to keep their church property beautiful.
The Episcopal Church has an agrarian ministry called Good News Gardens. The mission of this ministry is to partner with people in transformation agrarian ministry that feeds body, mind, and spirit. It involves individuals, congregations, schools, and anyone who wants to be involved. This creation care ministry includes gardening, farming, beekeeping, composting, gleaning, feeding, and food justice advocacy.
Good News Gardens require three commitments: plant more, pray more, and proclaim more!
You can learn more about the Good News Gardens ministry and how to officially host a Good News Garden on the Episcopal Church website.
Here is a list of churches in the Diocese of Missouri who have a garden ministry, followed by a few beautiful pictures. Let us know if we missed your garden by sharing your information and pictures! Contact communications director Janis Greenbaum to be included on this list.
We are grateful to all the ministry leaders and everyone who participates in this important transformation ministry!
