Since 1990, John B. Stoeckley has captured the history of Missouri landmarks and other notable sites from throughout America in extremely detailed pen, ink and watercolor. Well over 500 drawings make up the four major bodies of his work.

  • College Landmarks - over 300 schools from throughout the United States.
  • Sports Landmarks - includes all 32 NFL Stadiums and all 30 Major League Baseball Parks.
  • Reflections of Missouri - notable landmarks throughout the State.
  • The Provence Collection - created on annual trips to the South of France.

A business executive for 25 years, Stoeckley exchanged his briefcase for a portfolio and drawing tablet in 1990 and made art his full-time career. He studied fine art at Indiana University and later at The Art Institute of Chicago, in the disciplines of drawing, painting, print making, and eventually digital graphic art.

The recipient of numerous awards for Best of Show and Best of Medium, Stoeckley pushed the boundaries of his work demonstrating a full mastery of combining mediums, pen and ink drawing with watercolor.

Stoeckley's work hangs in hundreds of private collections as well as national and international public places, such as the Kremlin, the Vatican, the F.B.I. Headquarters and The Pentagon. Public figures who own Stoeckley's work include Oprah Winfrey and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, along with various state governors and U.S. senators and representatives.

Stoeckley died April 28, 2024.

In an endeavor to share the artist's work with folks in Missouri, the Gallery, a restored stagecoach stop in historic Louisiana, Missouri, will be open Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Framed, matted and signed prints, along with numerous unframed, signed originals will be available for sale (only cash and checks will be accepted).

The Stoeckley family is donating 25-percent of all sales on August 24 to the Diocese of Missouri's 2024 Bishop's Fund. All are invited to attend this art show, take home a piece of Stoeckley's art, and support the Diocese of Missouri.
