Pride Evensong with Bishop Gene Robinson
An evening of prayer, song, and holy welcome, for everyone.
Some doors are easy to walk through. Others take a lifetime of knocking before they open. On Sunday, June 14, we invite everyone, especially those who have ever felt shut out by the church, to walk through ours.
The Episcopal Diocese of MO's LGBTQIA Ministry will host a Pride Evensong at 5 PM at Emmanuel Episcopal Church (9 South Bompart Avenue, Webster Groves, MO), a service of celebration and prayer woven together with the vibrant, hard-won spirit of Pride.
We are honored to welcome Bishop Gene Robinson as our guest preacher. Bishop Robinson made history in 2003 as the first openly gay priest to be consecrated a bishop in a major Christian denomination, a moment that shook and ultimately changed the Episcopal Church and the wider world. His journey has been one of courage, faith, and an unshakeable conviction that love is, at its core, a sacred thing.
Whether you are LGBTQ+, an ally, a longtime Episcopalian, someone who hasn't set foot in a church in years, or someone simply curious about what a truly welcoming community looks like. This evening is for you.
Come as you are. Bring who you love. You are welcome here.
