Preparing for Lent 2022
March 2 is Ash Wednesday -- the beginning of Lent. The Diocese is planning several ways for you to engage in this holy season, including the following:
Diocesan Sabbatical Week
March 7-11
Bishop Deon Johnson encourages everyone in the Diocese to take quiet time for yourself during the first week of Lent. We'll be offering ways to help you recharge your spiritual connection.
Bishop's Book Club
Tuesdays in Lent: March 8 - April 5
6:30 p.m.
Zoom
Bishop Deon Johnson and Canon Doris Westfall invite you to join them each Tuesday evening in Lent for a discussion of the book Hospitable Planet: Faith, Action and Climate Change, by Stephen A. Jurovics.
Evangelism with Integrity
Video series available to parishes and individuals
The Rev. Canon Whitney Rice invites you to engage in six short videos (approximately 5 minutes each) that may change how you think and respond to "evangelism." The videos are all available on YouTube.
Lenten Reflections: Temptations and Salvation
Video and text series
We are asking 20 people in discernment toward ordination in the Diocese of Missouri to reflect on Bible readings about temptation and Jesus' mercy to save. These reflections will be posted on our website and social media channels throughout the season of Lent.
Lenten Liturgies
Bishop Deon Johnson offers special liturgies for parishes and individuals to use during Lent, including resources for children and families. Download the materials from our website.
Watch for details about these events and more as we move closer to Lent. If you have a Lenten event or activity you would like to share with the Diocese, please send your information to [email protected].
